Your Restaurant Isn’t Just the Food.

A lot of restaurant content starts and ends with the food, and obviously the food should look incredible because that is part of what people are coming for, but when someone is deciding where they want to spend Friday night they are usually choosing way more than what is on the plate, whether they realize it or not.

They are choosing the room, the lighting, the music, the crowd, the service, the mood, whether they want to sit at the bar or stay for dessert, and even tiny things like the way a drink is finished or how the tables look once the room starts filling up, which is why I think hospitality content gets really boring when every shot is just another close up of food.

Yes, I want the steak, the cocktail and the pasta, but I also want the server moving through the room, the bartender working, the chef doing something they have probably done 500 times without thinking about it, the calm before service and then that exact same space two hours later when it feels completely different.

That is usually the part people are actually trying to imagine when they look up a restaurant.

What will it feel like when I get there? Will I want to stay? Will this feel like a Tuesday dinner or somewhere I want to celebrate something?

A beautiful plate can get someone’s attention, but if your restaurant has a real personality and all we show is food sitting perfectly still on a table, we are leaving half the story behind.

Sometimes the shot that makes someone book the reservation is not even the food, it is the table they suddenly picture themselves sitting at.
